A fragmens of Roman mosaic flooring. Description: The fragment is made up of four cut tile tessera set in a white mortar, while relatively flat on the upper surface the back is very irregular. The tesserae are of varied colour and two of the four are heavily obscured by the mortar. Measurements: 70.31mm long, 51.17mm wide, 24.53mm thick and 114.05g in weight. One roughly rectangular cut tile tessera of probable Roman date. Description:The tessera is roughly rectangular and of medium size. It is not clear what kind of mosaic it may relate to although traces of mortar remains. It is a bright orange . Measurements: 25.5mm high, 26.44mm long, 21.51mm wide and 21.86g in weight. Discussion:These unprepossessing small cubes are of important because they may suggest the proximity of a building decorated with a mosaic floor in good Romanised tastes and indeed a known roman villa is known in the vicinity of these fragment.

A collection of eleven cut tile tesserae of Roman date. They are orange/red in colour, roughly rectangular or sub cuboid shape in form and with traces of mortar on at least one surface. They have a combined total weight of 332.26 g and date to between the 1st and 5th centuries AD, c.43-410 AD.
