Two ceramic tesserae from a Roman mosaic floor.
The two pieces are subcuboidal, some of their faces being square, others irregular. The fabrics are mid orange and vessiculated.
Dimensions: Piece 1: 30.6mm long, 29.7mm wide, 25.6mm thick; weight: 33.09g. Piece 2: 30.7mm long, 23.1mm wide, 22.9mm high; weight: 24.43g.

Twelve ceramic mosaic tiles (tesserae) recovered during a fieldwalking exercise on the site of a known Roman villa. The tiles are generally sub-square in shape and are of fairly uniform proportions, measuring between 24.3mm and 33.3mm in length and weighing between 12.72g and 27.05g. They are quite large and crudely made, suggesting that they did not come from a very fine mosaic.
