Pot sherd. A worn vessel base of light grey fabric with gritty/sandy inclusions. Most likely late Roman grey ware. Base has circular indentation around the edge, the inner face has three concentric circles and a central clay nodule from wheel production process. None of the vessel sides remain - sherd is worn to a rough disc. May have been used as a pot lid.

Five sherds of similar dark grey/black very coarse pot (possibly, although not likely, from same vessel). Largest is 40 x 35 x 7mm, smallest is 18 x 15 x 6mm. Fabric has gritty inclusions. Largest fragment has part of base, whilst one small fragment may be a section of rim. Surface is irregular, and thickness varies by several millimeters. Pot may be crude Late Roman, but could also conceivably be Iron Age or Anglo Scandinavian.

Large pot sherd, fragment of a base incorporating part of the side of the vessel. Of coarse dark grey fabric with gritty inclusions. Roughly made, with small voids in interior surface that may be through wear, but may suggest that the vessel was fired with grass/seed inclusions that burnt away in the firing process. Pot may be of Roman date (though crudely made), but could also conceivably be Iron Age or Anglo-Scandinavian.

Three pot sherds. Fragment of the rim of a large vessel. The style of the rim suggests that the sherd is most likely to be from a Roman Bowl (or possibly a Mortaria). The fabric is light grey with some gritty inlclusions. Some grit has been lost from the sufaces, leaving small voids. The surface may be burnished. A decorative line runs the width of the inner rim. Also two small undiagnostic sherds of similar fabric.
