A fragment of a ceramic vessel of Roman date. The vessel is a rim sherd from a local (unsourced) miscellaneous greyware dish/vessel. The fragment is a semi-circular projecting rim. The fabric is fairly hard and gritty with a smooth feel and ribbed effect interior to the curve. It is a mid-grey colour throughout. The sherd is 94.5mm x 32.5mm x 15.7mm. Weight: 61g. Overall diameter: 36cm (projected using rim chart); approx.9% remaining.

A fragment of a handmade coarseware ceramic vessel of Roman date, circa AD43 - 410. The fragment is a body sherd from a large vessel. The fabric is dark blackish-grey in colour with a soft and gritty texture. Abundant calcite inclusions are present within the fabric. Possible Huntcliff Ware, manufactured in East Yorkshire and common across the north of England. The fragment is 45.1mm long, 43.9mm wide, 9.3mm thick and weighs 23.2g.

A fragment of a ceramic vessel of Roman date. The vessel is a base sherd from a shallow South Gaulish Samian Ware (terra sigillata) bowl or dish. The sherd is semi-circular with a projecting base ring. The fabric is smooth and hard with a pinkish-brown colour and a glossy red slip covering the entire surface. The breaks display conchoidal fracturing and abundant inclusions of fine limestone are present.
