A fragment of a ceramic vessel of Roman date. The sherd is soft fabric, with a reduced grey centre and orange outer surfaces. Small, infrequent mica(?) inclusions are present.
The fragment is 54.8mm long, 56.1mm wide, 6mm thick and weighs 18.5g.
Possibly a local greyware produced at the Cantley Kiln's Doncaster in the 2nd - 3rd centuries.

A fragment of Crambeck greyware vessel of Roman date. The fragment is a projecting and everted rim sherd from a dish or bowl. The fabric is a deep grey/blue colour with a hard and fine texture incorporating abundant fine quartz sand inclusions.
The sherd is 43.8mm long, 36.1mm wide, 10.8mm thick and weighs 21.5g.
Crambeck wares were produced at the site of Crambeck in North Yorkshire from the early 4th century and continued until end of Roman period with the grey ware being the most abundant type.

A fragment of a wheel-thrown ceramic vessel of Roman date, circa AD 120 - 250. The fragment is a rim sherd from a Black Burnished Ware vessel Type BB2 shallow, straight sided dish with plain everted rim. The fabric is dark blackish-grey in colour with a hard and gritty texture and burnished outer surface. Abundant quartz inclusions are present within the fabric.
The fragment is 45.8mm long, 22.2mm wide, 10.3mm thick and weighs 8.3g.
Overall diameter: 24cm (projected using rim chart); approx.6% remaining.
