A fragment of Crambeck grey ware vessel of Roman date. The fragment is a rim sherd from a beaded flanged rim bowl. The fabric is a pale grey colour with a hard and fine texture incorporating abundant fine quartz sand inclusions. The sherd is 88.1mm long, 38.2mm wide, 12.9mm thick and weighs 71g. Crambeck wares were produced at the site of Crambeck in North Yorkshire from the early 4th century and continued until end of Roman period with the grey ware being the most abundant type.

A fragment of a ceramic vessel of Roman date. The vessel is a rim and body sherd from a local (unsourced) miscellaneous greyware vessel. The fragment is sub-trapezoidal with a rolled projecting rim. The fabric is fairly hard and gritty with a rough sandy feel. It is light grey colour throughout. The fragment is 58.6mm long, 33.4mm wide, 20mm thick and weighs 23.2g.

A fragment of a ceramic vessel of Roman date. The vessel is a rim and body sherd from a shallow East Gaulish Samian Ware (terra sigillata) bowl or dish. The sherd is sub-triangular with a slight projecting rim and an orange fabric with glossy red slip remaining in a large patch on the exterior surface and along the rim on the interior. Dragendorff type 36. The fragment is 57.4mm long, 30.2mm wide, 7.1mm thick and weighs 10.1g.

A fragment of a ceramic vessel of Roman date. The vessel is a rim and body sherd from a hemispherical South Gaulish Samian Ware (terra sigillata) bowl. The sherd is sub-trapezoidal with a projecting rim and an orange fabric with glossy red slip remaining over both the interior and exterior surfaces. Moulded relief decoration on exterior surface consists of a transverse strip with two remaining curved arches, each with three arches. The remains of a third arch can be seen. Dragendorff type 42. The fragment is 64.6mm long, 46.7mm wide, 9.7mm thick and weighs 25.8g.

Ceramic rim sherd of Roman date. Heavily abraded overhanging-rim sherd of East Gaulish Terra Sigillata (Samian ware); only traces of the glossy red slip have survived. Dragendorff type 36 dish or shallow bowl. The exterior of the rim is decorated, albeit now faintly, in a barbotine vine-scroll terminating in a peltate leaf. Two sherds of wheel thrown ceramic vessels of Roman date. One fragment is a rim sherd, the other a base sherd, from a local (unsourced) miscellaneous greyware vessel. The fabric is fairly hard and gritty with a rough feel. It is light grey throughout. The inclusions are abundant, well-sorted angular quartz. A fragment from a Roman Samian Ware vessel (AD43-AD410). The fragment is a rim sherd from a moulded bowl with a bead rim, Dragendorff form 37. Below the rim on the exterior surface there is a plain undecorated band delineated by an incised band, and below that part of a band of egg and dart decoration with a wavy line in relief below. A fragment from a ceramic vessel of Roman date (AD43-AD410). The fragment is a rim sherd from a wheel thrown grey ware vessel, possibly a jar. The rim is upright and the body of the vessel flares out beneath it. The fabric is fine and is a light grey colour. It is fine and homogenous with no visible inclusions. Rim and body sherd of a wall-sided platter of Crambeck parchment ware. The rim itself is everted and projects from a short vertical wall at the edge of the basin (Monaghan 1997, 1018). The exterior of the rim wall has a shallow raised band, circumferential at the waist. The lower part of this exterior collar is missing. The basin is shallow. This form, unlike many of the Crambeck parchment wares, is often unpainted (Corder 1928, 30) and no paint is visible on this sherd.
