A sherd of a Roman colour-coated vessel of unknown manufacture (possibly Oxfordshire). The sherd comes from the body of the vessel. It is thin-walled, bright orange in colour with traces of a darker slip within the decoration. The outer face has a transverse groove across one end and rouletted decoration. The fabric is hard and fine and is tempered with occasional mica, rounded quartz sand (>1mm) and more frequent amounts of angular, dark coloured material, perhaps iron ore (>1.5mm). The sherd is pink-orange in colour with a shiny dark orange slip. The fabric is soft and fine grained with few visible inclusions apart from occasional fine mica.
