A fragment of a copper-alloy unidentified object of uncertain date. The object is a flattened semi-circular shape with a break across the straight edge. The outer face is decorated with an engraved groove immediately behind the break an a row of incised C-shapes along the curved outer edge.  The function and date of the object is uncertain in its present condition. The patina, shape and decoration would suggest a Roman or early medieval date, but a medieval date is also possible.

An incomplete copper-alloy unidentified object, probably a strap fitting of Roman date. A long, narrow strip, D-shaped in cross-section, one end curved and one end straight with an apparently deliberate c.120 degree bend between the two sections. The outer face of the curved section is decorated with two longitudinal lines of small parallel tool marks. The outer face of the straight section is decorated with bands of transverse grooves flanking an in situ copper-alloy rivet and has a forked outer end. The surface of the metal is corroded and the breaks are well worn. Strong simil…

An incomplete copper-alloy unidentified object, possibly a mount of Roman date. A flattened plate with a pointed sub-triangular outer terminal and sub-trapezoidal section projecting from its rear with what may be a break across its rear edge. There is a linear engraved border around the outer edges of the terminal and behind this the sides of the terminal are decorated with parallel incised diagonal grooves. There is a small circular hole through the centre of the terminal, through which a bent copper-alloy rivet remains in situ. The outer face of the trapezoidal section to the rear i…

A fragment of a copper-alloy unidentified object, perhaps a Roman bracelet of unusual form. The fragment is a flattened strip-shape, rectangular in cross-section and bent out of shape in profile. Two v-shaped notches, c.13mm apart, are cut into each side towards one end, dividing the face of the strip into three sections. The outer face of the longer of the outer two sections is decorated with an inwards pointing chevron formed of small incised dots. The outer face of the small central section is decorated with a transverse line of incised dots. There is no decoration evident on t…

A copper-alloy fragment of an unidentified object, probably of the Roman to Early Medieval period, dating to AD 43-900. It consists of an arrow-shaped plate, which has a rectangular possibly broken end and a thickening and upwards curving point; the curving part has an oval cross-section. The front face has a longitudinal ridge, which might be a residue of the casting process. The back face of the plate has a semi-oval lug. The surfaces are abraded. The metal and the patina suggest and early date and the object might be a discarded Roman vessel mount; see KENT-BAB819. Although, the…
