An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester Derivative Polden Hill (CD PH CD PH, 4.l.c Plate 49) type and 2nd century AD date. The brooch is missing much of the wings and spring, foot and catchplate with an overall surviving length of 53.5mm and max width of 24.1mm at the wings. The more intact wing is warped by iron corrosion (with a remaining diameter of 9.5mm) from the iron axis bar. The brooch is fragmentary, represented by the head and top of the bow only (with a surviving length of 28.7mm, a surviving depth of 4.4mm and a weight of 10.3g).
