A lead alloy circular loom weight dating Roman to Medieval period.
The sides are flat and plain as no decoration present. The central hole is slightly off centre. There is a light weight to grey patina with some pitting.

A complete lead, or lead alloy, probable Loom Weight of Roman to Post Medieval date (AD 43 - 1650). In plan the loom weight is circular. There is a circular perforation which is 8.61mm in diameter in the centre of the weight. One face of the object is slightly domed. The other is flat and the perforation is expanded on this side and is 10.25mm in diameter.
The metal is light brown in colour and has a slightly pitted patina.
Loom weights and spindle whorls are used for a long period of time and decorated examples are thought to date to the medieval to post-medieval periods. Howev…

An incomplete cast lead-alloy probably Roman to Medieval loom weight, dating to AD 43-1450. It is circular in plan with as central sub-cylindrical perforation, which has traces of recessing on its inner face, probably due to use. The sides of the loomweight are convex. The front and back faces are damaged.
The second hypothesis is that the object is a spindle whorl of the same period range.

A complete lead or lead alloy weight, probably Loom Weight. The date is uncertain though probably of the Roman to Post Medieval period (AD 43 - AD 1900).
The object is cylindrical with a sub-oval perforation through the object to facilitate attachment.
There is evidence of some post depositional damage in the form of indentations, pitting and scratches on the surface of the object. There is one large ovate indentation possible caused by post-depositional damage, above the base of the object. The surface is otherwise plain and undecorated.
