A complete cast copper alloy gaming die of uncertain date, probably Roman to Medieval, c. AD 43 - 1500. It is cuboid, with the numbers marked by 'pips' of incised or stamped ring and dot motif . They are in a non-regular arrangement (meaning that the opposite sides do not add up to seven). However, the six, three and two are next to each other, as on regular dice, so the dice can be classifed as Potter type 15, though the Potter types only really hold true for regular dice. On this die, the six is opposite the five, the one is opposite the two, the three is opposite the four. Th…

A cast lead alloy die with slightly uneven dimensions and rounded corners. The numbers are indicated on each face by circular pits. The die is not regular and the sums of dots on opposing faces is 3, 8 and 10 (1 & 2, 3 & 5, and 4 & 6), suggesting that it may be of Roman date. Egan (1997) suggests that Medieval and later dice are usually of the regular layout (opposing faces totalling 7).

A cast and inscriebd complete, copper-alloy possible Roman die. Description: This small copper alloy die is oblong in shape and features incised lines on its four faces starting with II, III, IIII and X. The incised marks are heavily worn and it features minimal corrosion on its edges. Measurements: 6.71g in weight, 17.77mm in length, 8.92mm thick and 7.85mm wide. Discussion: Oblong or rectangular Roman die are recorded on the PAS database, such as ASHM-383087 and LANCUM-E6101C, unfortunately the wear on this example make exact ID difficult to pin down.
