Lead alloy circular weight, probably from the Roman period. The weight has a rounded top and slightly concave back surface. On the front, in the lower half are the numbers 'IIII' which has most likely been cast or moulded in at the time of manufacture. The back has no decoration on but the surface is not smooth which could be due to use or poor casting. The edges are slightly raised and are irregular.

Irregular folded lead weight of unknown date (probably Roman – Post Medieval 50-1700 AD). The weight is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and profile. The upper edge has been pierced by a regular pierced hole (diameter: 6.2mm). The lower edge of the weight has been folded back upon itself which has created a much thicker lower edge; this presumably makes the weight hang evenly. There is no evidence of cast or incised decoration on the weight. The weight is a mid cream yellow colour with a relatively even patina. There are small areas of light grey active laminating corrosion; this is m…

Roman or Medieval lead alloy weight, 44mm long and 32mm in diameter. The object is in fair condition with a grey patina and weighs 250grams. The weight is sub-spherical in form with a flat base and has unusual surface treatment which appears to be decorative? The surface is rough with sub-circular depressions and 'peaks' as though it has been proded with a rounded object to create an unveen surface. It has a slight depression in its upper surface with traces of iron staining.

A rectangular lead alloy weight. The weight has an uneven but mostly convex front and a flat reverse. The reverse has randomly placed scores on the back that may be related to the object's manufacturing. A large square hole has been made through the upper portion of the weight from back to front, resulting in an uneven lip on the front. These objects are difficult to date but the maufacturing appears crude and local - this weight may date from the Roman to early post-Medieval periods. The weight is 47.99mm long, 37.03mm wide and is 17.74mm thick. It weighs 140.80gms.

A lead alloy net or hem weight, conical in shape with a flat peak and base. There is a small indentation on the base of the weight but no perforation. The weight is 13.13mm in diameter, 11.47mm thick and weighs 14.6gms. Plain lead weights are hard to date and maybe anywhere between the Roman and Post-medieval periods, although this is more likely to date to the earlier time period. This weigh is associated with the two net / loom weights recorded as BERK-FBFC68.
