This is a lead alloy seal matrix that has an oval plate. On the reverse is a rectangular rearwardly projecting plate (14mm wide, 10mm high and 4mm deep). That has a circular hollow on the top right edge, this is probably forming the top of a shaft that would ring the height of the projection, unfortunately the lower edge is encrusted in mud which covers any exit of the shaft, although a small circular depression is viable on the lower edge that would correspond with the upper hollow.  This shaft may have held a binding cord or wire. Lead votive model axe that has an overall wedge shape, the blade of the axe is angled and there us a small rectangular slot in the opposite wider end. The axe has been formed from a sheet of lead that has been folded in two, with the seam is near the blade. Small axes are the most common miniature votive artefact found of roman religious site and temples with examples found at the shrines at Uley, Lydney and Nettleton Shrub.
