Oyster shell. Two large oyster shells: the larger a flat bottom half and the smaller a concavo-convex top half from different edible bivalves of the same species. The oyster shell sizes are larger than those encountered in medieval or post-medieval deposits, and the larger part of the accompanying pottery must suggest a Roman date, and probably the primary deposition of food waste. British oysters were an esteemed foodstuff in Roman times. Obverse description: Bust laureate draped and cuirassed right, wreath circles top of head. If a copy, may imitate RIC 4 part 1 no. 215a-216, of 210-213, but with extended legend.
Obverse inscription: ANTONIN(VS) AVGVSTVS
Reverse description: Liberalitas holding square object, possibly abacus, and cornucopia.
Reverse inscription: LIBERALITAS AVGVS
Cliff Reeves kindly identified this coin, and comments on its apparent light weight - though a small part is lost.
