Copper alloy brooch. Cast bow and fantail hinged Colchester derivative brooch, Mackreth type CD H 7.b3. Tubular wings retain an axis bar for a cast pin. The wings have a ridge along the top with an integrally cast top loop. They are met by a rectangular section bow which bears a pair of longitudinal ridges, here much worn. At the recurving of the bow it broadens to form a fantail foot on which a bordered plate bears a reserved lozenge with a pelta shape depending from it; the field between these motifs and the border retains patches of dark blue enamel.
