Silver coin. Republican Denarius, cracked; denarius serratus of Q.Fufius Calenus and P. Mucius Scaevola (Cordus), issue of 70BC, Sear vol. 1 no. 338. This coin may have arrived in Britain with returning Celtic mercenaries fighting against Rome, though the silver content and good weight may have encouraged its later use in an early Roman context.
