Copper alloy headstud brooch, Mackreth type Headstud 9.b. Short wings which are probably vertically ribbed mask a cylindrical case for a hinged pin [lost]. The head is surmounted by the stubs of an integrally cast loop. The wings are clasped by a rectangular section bow which is lightly hollowed behind. Copper alloy brooch. Cast Colchester brooch, cf. Mackreth type C Odd 1. The bow is expanded to a solid Y-shape with turned-up ends at the top, with an integrally cast backward pointing hook projecting from it, and a forward pointing loop on top, which is anchored at its outer end by a rivet of diameter 1mm.
