An incomplete cast copper alloy Late Roman amphora-shaped strap end. The slightly curved undecorated leaf-shaped body narrows from the neck that has two kidney shaped holes suggesting amphora handles. The terminal of the body is now missing. At the top of the strap end are two integral perforated lugs representing a hinge type attachment. Through the centre of these are the remains of an iron pin. The surviving length is 54.1mm, the width is 18.8mm, the thickness of the body is 1.9mm and the thickness of the lugs is 7.7mm.

An incomplete copper alloy high shoulders group Roman nail cleaner. The integral flat suspension loop with an external diameter of 9.6mm, is on the same plane as the shaft. The flat leaf-shaped shaft tapers from the shoulders to the two incomplete points. There is transverse scored line, placed above a vertical line down the centre of the shaft and probably continued to the division of the points. The surviving length is 37.6mm, the maximum width is 9.6mm, the thickness is 1.3mm and the weight is 1.70g.
A similar example is known from Dragonby, North Lincs (May 1996, 76 and 71, …

Copper alloy
Brooch. Dolphin Brooch, cast bow with abraded ridges on its crest, surmounting enclosed tubular wings with apparently open ends. A bow of rounded section tapers towards the stub of a catch-plate. It is not clear whether the wings conceal a fine spring, or whether a hinged pin protruded from a slot in the underside of the wings. The bow is bent sharply above catch-plate and the brooch abraded overall. Suggested date: Early Roman, 40-80.
Length (as found): 28.02mm, Width (wings): 32.86mm, Thickness (crest of bow): 7.1mm, Weight: 14.47gms.

A Roman Amphora handle sherd. The handle is round in section with a slight ridge on the upper surface near the surviving upper junction with the neck. The lower joint to the body does not survive (dimensions L 140mm; W 90mm; T 48mm). The handle is from a large globular olive oil amphora type known as a Dressel 20 (DR 20) produced in the southern Spain/Portugal area at sites clustered around the Guadalquivir river valley. These vessels had an average capacity of 60-65 litres and are over 0.5m in height (Tyres 1996, 87-8).

A complete cast copper alloy Roman harness mount or strap slider. The slightly convex mount has a flat rectangular panel at the top with two flat lugs on each side, each with a circular perforation inside. At the top of the mount is a rounded lug which is convex at the front and flat behind. The lower half of the mount is drop-shaped and convex at the front and hollow behind. The pointed terminal has two knurled ribbed collars. At the back of the mount is an integral rectangular attachment loop. The length is 50.1mm, the width is 20.7mm, the thickness is 9.4mm and the weight is 7.85g.

Description of Object
Roman silver finger ring fragment, consisting of two shoulders and the bezel - the whole of the bottom of the hoop is missing. Ovular swelling profile and flattened bezel. The ring is set with a dark stone intaglio, probably nicolo, with a very worn motif, possibly a seated figure facing left. The shoulders are decorated with lightly incised lines.
The item has been heavily cleaned, and there on file marks on one end of the broken hoop.
