Copper alloy Brooch fragment. Possibly from the lower part of a Hod Hill brooch of Mackreth Type HOD HILL 2. Only the lower bow remains, which is flat at the top and of fluted triangular form with an unpierced cast catch plate behind it, with a small pedestal foot. Suggested date: Early Roman, 50-100. Length: 42.8mm, Width: 6.9mm, Thickness (at top of bow in so far as it remains): 1.9mm, Weight: 4.45gms.

Copper alloy with silver plating Brooch Hod Hill Brooch, Mackreth Type HOD HILL 1. Cast with a rolled over top retaining the stub of a hinged pin, triple longitudinal ridges on the flat upper bow, with small side knobs at its base. Below the side knobs there is a constriction and a tapered narrow lower bow retaining the top of the stub of a catch plate. The bow has been flattened, as it now retains no curvature. Copper alloy with enamel Brooch fragment. Possibly a Hinged Colchester Derivative/Polden Hill version, Mackreth CD H/PH. Plain tubular wings retain an axis bar and the stub of a hinged pin, and are clasped by a flat angular bow. Beneath the first sharp kink in the bow, its flat display face bears traces of enamel filled compartments, a patch of red is the only remaining colour. The lower bow is lost. Suggested date: Early Roman, 100-200. Length: 19.4mm, Width: 20.0mm, Thickness (crest of bow): 3.8mm, Weight: 5.66gms.

Copper alloy Brooch. Possible Trumpet Brooch fragment, Mackreth Type TR 2. An expanded head retains the stub of an integrally cast sub-rectangular tab and top loop and four coils of a spring together with its chord and the stub of a pin. The bow, which is of angular section and profile, tapers towards a deeply recessed pair of grooves in the front of the bow; the rest of the brooch is lost below this mid-bow feature. Suggested date: Early Roman, 75-150. Length: 26.8mm, Width: 11.4mm, Thickness (crest of bow): 3.6mm, Weight: 5.02gms.
