Mortar bust. Model of a head. This object is hand moulded in a coarse sandy lime mortar with abundant inclusions of dark shattered flint of length up to 5mm, and with sparse flecks of golden reflective material on its smoothed surface - from examination under a hand lens probably not mica flakes; they may originate in local sands, or might even be tiny particles of naturally occurring gold from glacial drift. The material is freshly exposed at a recent ragged break at the neck. The surface was smoothed when moist, conferring a quasi-slipped finish and appropriately fleshy tone, though…

Copper alloy, possibly with enamel, brooch. Headstud brooch. Cast hinged headstud brooch with cast tubular wings retaining the axis bar and the stub of a hinged pin, with the stub of a top loop above. A round stud with central pellet sits at the curve of the bow with six lozenges below it along the lower bow, which tapers towards a simple pedestal foot. The stub of a catch plate remains behind the lower bow. Pottery bowl body sherd. Fragment of a Samian Ware bowl, possibly of Dragendorff form 37, with moulded figurative decoration in two compartments separated by a beaded string. In the left compartment is a bear its with head down, below an eight petalled rosette. In the right compartment is part of a figure wearing a tunic; his right leg is raised and rests on a bucket shaped object while the left leg is straight; a right arm appears crooked, and may grasp a [?bucket] handle; there is an open disc below the 'bucket'. Suggested date: early Roman, 100-200.
