Copper alloy button and loop fastener, Wild Class VI(?b). A triangular loop is set at right angles to a thickened shank which is integrally cast along with a rectangular plate with two broad horizontal gutters flanking three narrower incised lines across its display face. Decorative in itself, and perhaps enhancing grip on a fastener, this might have been intended to retain enamel, though no trace of colorant remains. Suggested date: Early Roman, 100-200
