Bronze sestertius, or possibly double sestertius, of Postumus (AD 260-269) dating c. Ad 260.  Obverse bust right , draped and bearded, with radiate crown. Inscription very worn but  possibly [IMP C M] CASS L[AT POSTVMVS  P I ] AVG. Reverse [VIRTV AVG] S C, Mars or Virtus standing right, resting on spear and shield, with S C in field. Reece period 13. RIC179. Likely minted in Lugdunum, Gaul.

A copper alloy Roman sestertius of Postumus dating to AD 260-269 (Reece period 13). Obscured reverse, although based on the obverse bust type it may have been a [VICTORIA AVG] type depicting Victory advancing left. Mint of Lugdunum. The reverse has the corroded remains of a second, smaller, copper alloy coin (c. 26mm in diameter) fused to it, suggesting that the coin may have been deposited or lost as part of a small group in a container such as a purse or bag. Cf. RIC V Postumus 172.
