An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman hinge-headed enamelled brooch dating to the early second century AD (c. AD 43-200 Only the head and upper section of the brooch remains, the pin and lower section of the bow and catchplate are now missing. The brooch pin in intact and is hinged from the axis bar at the top and is held in place by a tubular housing for the copper alloy axis bar. A badly corroded and incomplete Roman copper alloy Colchester derivative brooch of Harlow double-lugged type dating to circa AD 43-70. The wings are short and have curved cross section. There are two pierced lugs under the head for the spring and chord which are now lost, along with the pin. The bow has a sub rounded cross section and tapers to an old break. It is not possible to determine if the brooch was decorated.
