The object is broadly bi-conical with a slightly flattened top and almost pointed base The surface of the metal is pitted and marked and is generally of a cream and pale brown colouring with rust staining where the iron shows. An incomplete copper alloy brooch, dating from the late Iron Age to early Roman period c.AD 25-60. It is a one-piece Colchester brooch, Mackreth 2011, Standard British Colchester, plate 23, no.92. The head of the brooch comprises short rectangular wings with an integral forward-facing hook projecting from the centre of the top edge. A copper alloy Crossbow brooch fragment, dating to the Roman period (c.AD 350-380). It has a rectangular section head with a collared onion knob at either end, one is missing, with a thin stiff copper alloy wire which would have passed through the head of the brooch, but is broken, this serves as an axis bar for the stub of a hinged pin. At the centre of the bow, between the onion knobs and at the centre of the body's head, is a circular perforation. The body, catchplate and pin of the brooch are missing. An incomplete small copper alloy bow brooch, dating to the Roman period, possibly c.AD 43-100. A Colchester derivative, Harlow, double lug type, the pin, spring and catch plate are missing. The wings of the brooch are plain and crescent shaped, convex on the front and concave on the back. A D-shaped attachment lug, broken, projects from the centre of the wings and the back of the head. Fragment of a  Romano-British Colchester Type Hinged Pin brooch dating from the 1st-2nd century AD (c. AD43-120).The T-shaped  head has broken rolled cylindrical arms that curve out slightly to the trapezoidal cross sectioned bow and has the remnants of a cast on loop. The bow tapers gradually to the foot, which has broken off.  The bow is decorated with a cast molded design that is divided into two parts including a  panel with vertical moulded ridges, and a plain lower half.
