The object consists of a cast integral circular loop with a narrow waisted-section below, followed by an expanded, flattened, rectangular section, which becomes narrower at its lower end. The surface and break are all corroded and well worn. One surface is decorated on the narrow rectangular section but a series of lightly incised wavy lines within an outer sub-rectangular border.  The reverse of the object is plain. An incomplete, worn bent and damaged cast copper alloy Roman nail cleaner of Baldock Type dating from the first or second century AD. The nail cleaner has a slender leaf-shaped blade which would have tapered to a bifurcated tip which is now broken and missing. There is no visible decoration on the blade. The nail cleaner has a suspension loop set perpendicular to the blade which extends from the rounded shoulders. Similar to Crummy's (1981) Type 2a, dating from c. AD 43-200. This may have been part of a set which hung from a chatelaine or similar.
