A small sub-circular perforated lead seal dating from AD 1900 - 1964. It is a General Post Office seal. It is circular with one flat and one domed face. Strands of copper wire project from four points around the edge. The centre of the seal has been perforated by a circular hole suggesting reuse. The partially obscures the obverse design of the letters G[P]O with a broad arrow above and a numeral, probably 14, below. Measurements are; diameter 19.2mm, thickness 7.2mm and weight 14.50g. A complete lead-alloy bag seal of modern date, c.AD 1800 – 1900. The seal is circular in plan with worn edges and a roughly rectangular cross section. A Modern lead seal dating from AD 1850 - 1950. It is circular and there are two thick discs stacked on top of each other. Two short lengths of curved wire project forom the side. The top disc is marked in relief with a crown over three illegible letters or symbols. The first symbol resembles an upward pointing chevron. A complete Modern lead alloy bag seal, c.AD 1914-1937. The seal for guano fertiliser is roughly circular in shape with incomplete edges, it is heavily worn on both sides, with some of the detail missing. Obverse: ANG[LO CONTINENTAL] / [LATE OHLENDORFF] / [...] Reverse: [T]RADE / MARK, cornocopia in centre It is unclear whether this seal still shows the Ohlendorff name, which would help to date the seal as later just the cornucopia trademark remained. Bailey (2000) illustrates a similar example on page 19, Fig.16.
