A complete copper alloy Button of Modern date (AD 1900-1975). The object is composed of a circular disc, with a convex upper and concave underside, and an integral rectangular loop at the centre of the underside. There is a circular perforation at the apex of the loop. The upper side of the disc is decorated with a pseudo heraldic motif, composed of raised upper semi-circular swag with five pellets within, a flattened shield with sable a bend sable and spray below. Lead alloy button copy. Cast plano-convex uniform button front bearing a Crown Imperial above a bugle with the number 20 between these features, and with a now-crescentic basal legend which probably extended round the button retaining the letters [--]TEERS [--]. This would seem to be the relict of the word Volunteers. There is no trace of a loop or its loss on a featureless smooth back. This is probably a casting taken from a 19th-century military uniform button. Post Medieval-Modern silver plated copper alloy button, c.AD 1800-1950. This is the body of a button with silver plating over a copper alloy core. The button is circular in plan and sub-rectangular in section, with slightly damaged faces and rounded edges. Both faces have a plain central boss and a deep rim, decorated with curved diagonal lines. The reverse has a break in the centre of the face where the attachment loop would have been soldered on.

A complete Modern copper alloy uniform button, c.AD 1850-1870. This is a composite button made from a decorated domed plate, attachment loop, and flat reverse plate. A copper alloy button of early modern date (c.AD 1750-1800). The button is octagonal in plan with rounded corners and a tapered edge. The face has an incised motif consisting of a central pellet surrounded by a raised ring from which a sunburst pattern emits. At the outer edge of the button there are incised concave lines corresponding with the edges of the octagon, which have incised transverse lines pointing to the centre of the button. Complete Post Medieval-Modern copper alloy uniform button, c.AD 1825. This is a navy uniform button, consisting of a domed top plate and wire loop. The obverse face is decorated with a wreath on a lined background, surrounding a raised circular belt with buckle that is inscribed with ROYAL MARINE ARTILLERY. In the centre is a fouled anchor with the rope tied to the ring at the top, running under the left-hand stock, then under the shank to the right, under the shank to the left and then under the left arm. A grenade is on either side of the shank. Kindly identified by the finder.

An incomplete livery button of The Honourable Edward Venables-Vernon-Harcourt (AD 1757-1847) dating to the Modern period, c.AD 1807-1847. It is discoidal and comprises a machine-pressed copper alloy reverse with a probably silver plated front. The front depicts the arms of the Archbishopric of York on the dexter and Edward's paternal arms of Venables-Vernon-Harcourt on the sinister. The reverse has a central, annular lug which is now lost. A copper alloy button dating to the 19th century. The machine-made button has a hollow body that is circular in plan and D-shaped in section. The face of the button features the legend ‘THE RIVER WEAVER NAVIGATION’ and has a central motif of three lions next to a tree, all set within a shield. The reverse has three concentric circles and the legend ‘BIRMINGHAM' showing where the button was manufactured. There is a central elongated hole that narrows in the middle so that it can hold the shank. Dimensions: Diameter 22.5mm, Thickness 6.4mm, Weight 3.60g
