A complete post medieval to modern hawking whistle, it has been cast in a dark metal, and is possibly tin or lead alloy. It likely dates from c. AD 1700-1800. The whistle is cylindrical in shape, and tapers to the oval shaped open mouth piece. Beside this is a semi circular open hole. At the opposite end there is a circular attachment loop with a long stem, this attaches to the domed and collared end of the whistle. An incomplete Post Medieval-Modern lead-tin alloy whistle, c.AD 1700-1900. This is a circular-sectioned whistle. The top of the whistle is missing, the base flares out to the top of the whistle chamber and is connected by a rope-decorated collar. There is a semicircular-shaped sound hole half-way down the whistle. The mouth piece is slot-shaped. This form of whistle was probably used by a bosun or boatswain, in order to deliver clearly audible commands aboard ship. A mostly complete lead alloy zoomorphic whistle dating to the post medieval period (c.AD 1700-1850). The whistle is cast in the form of a dog's head with distinctly moulded features. The head faces farwards and presents a sub-triangular snout with open mouth that holds an incomplete attachment loop. A slender, tubular cast copper-alloy fragment, possibly from a whistle. It was cast in two halves, as the joining line can be easily seen, and its interior is hollow. There are traces of red pigment on the exterior surfaces, so it is probable that it had been painted. It therefore has patches of dark brown-red, where the paint has survived, and patches of a dark grey-green patina, common to copper-alloy objects. It was possibly used as a hawking whistle. A flattened and corroded incomplete pewter object of post medieval to modern date comprising a hollow tube, 16.3mm in width with an open end and the other closed by a large transverse discoidal terminal, 31mm in diameter, which has been folded down on two sides. This terminal has a sub rectangular stump at the centre, possibly from a suspension loop or decorative projection. There is an oval aperture on one side of the tube which appears to be a feature, rather than damage. There are no marks or other decoration.

An incomplete cast white metal whistle of late post-medieval date, about AD 1700 - 1900. Only the closed end of the whistle survives. It is domed with a raised collar round the end where it joined the tubular part of the whistle. A cylindrical shaft extends from the closed end, terminating is a globular knop perforated for attachment. Casting flashes are present around the outer edge of the object. The object is 30.6mm long, 18.1mm wide, 10.0mm thick and weighs 5.00g. Compare NLM-7C1850, CORN-8F2B73 and YORYM-43B6B5.
