Lead pipe fragment. A short length of cast lead pipe of internal diameter 14.6mm and maximum wall thickness 6.4mm, slightly curved, gouged at one end, possibly from its having been forced into the aperture of a larger pipe or outlet, and patinated overall. This may have directed water into a trough or out from a pump. The pipe lacks the ridging to be expected of a pipe rolled from cast sheet with a sealed seam - the medieval way of making lead pipes - though the insertion of one short length into the next was employed with late medieval ceramic pipes. Lead water pipe. Cast tube with a flared end, where the internal diameter increases by circa 4mm to a maximum of circa 21mm and the end is splayed to a diameter of 42mm. The other end is chopped through with some force. Sections of pipe could be joined by ramming one end of tubular piping into the expanded end of its neighbor and puttying the joint, a system also used with ceramic piping of later medieval date. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1800. Length: 53.7mm, Diameter: 28mm, Thickness: circa 4mm, Weight: 187.90gms.

A cast copper alloy spherical hollow object with a cylindrical stem. The spherical element has been pierced with many drilled holes which vary from 2.5mm to 3.5mm. The holes form a rough pattern but some appear randomly placed. The cylindrical element has a band of a lighter surface patina which extends for 15mm.

Copper alloy. Cast spout. A tube, with decorative moulding at one end, broken at the other. The decorative moulding comprises a raised rib with milled surface, flanked by hollows limited by further milled ribs in relief. Length; 35.19mm, Max diameter 17.98mm, Thickness of tube: 1.6mm, Weight: 15.4gms. Suggested date: Early Roman, 40-200.

Copper pipe with lead decoration: a collar with a face on either side, one laughing, one stern. It is a male face with sideburns and top-hat, so it probably dates from the Victorian era.

Fragment of a cast copper alloy (brass) pipe fitting that was used as part of a connection or valve to attach copper pipework together. The fitting is cylindrical in profile and semi-circular in section. The copper piping remains on the surface of the brass fitting and was lead soldered on to the brass which has caused a pattern of decay to emerge where the piping looks ribbed in profile. The edge of the pipe has been machine-made and the inner lip of the opening meets the body of the fitting where it thickens, but the edge is worn so that its full extent is unknown.
