A complete copper alloy ball of probable Post-Medieval date (AD 1550-1900). The object is composed of a sphere of copper-alloy, with dark green glossy patina and minor surface pitting. The object’s function is unclear but could be a Gaming Piece or Ball Bearing.
Diameter: 25.38mm, Weight: 69.5g
The metal is dark green with a smooth patina.
Due to the lack wear marks, it seems more likely that this might be a Post-Medieval gaming piece.

Copper alloy unidentified object fragment. A fragment of pressed metal sheet with a series of closely-spaced grooves with a central impression, and with a small [diameter 1.7mm] fixing hole to one side. The use of a riveted fixing may point to an earlier date than would usually be considered for an otherwise non-diagnostic scrap. Possibly a mount from the corner of an object. Suggested date: possibly Late Medieval to Post-Medieval, 1350-1650

Medieval-Post Medieval copper alloy unknown object, c.AD 1400-1800.
This object is part of a copper plate that has been scored on one face with dots, unevenly spaced, and folded over so that the reverse face is hidden. It is unclear what purpose this object originally served, as the dots appear too sporadic to be thimble pits or decoration.

A cross shaped lead alloy moulding of uncertain purpose. The tapering long arm ends in a blunt point and is slightly bent halfway down, damage rather than intentional. The other end of this is terminated with a moulded in, overhanging circluar shape, wider than the arms and bent over in places around its circumference. The two short arms emanate from a point about 1/4 of the way down the long arm. These are circular in section (as is the long arm) but splay out slightly towards the blunt ends.

Copper alloy unidentified object. Triangle of thin sheet metal with two rounded corners and two tiny [diameter 1.1mm] holes, one blind. Possibly for a small value from a set of chemist’s weights. The discovery of a scale of Roman lorica squamata (NLM-C42002) which also has cut corners, reported along with this object, might alternatively suggest this to be another piece of scale armour, albeit of different form. Copper alloy object, possibly the goad terminal of a Medieval prick spur. The terminal end has a flat-tipped pyramidal shape with a circular recess at the apex. At the base angle of the pyramid, there is an angular bevel on three of the four sides. From the slightly rectangular flat base a circular stub projects with a distorted broken, or possibly even cut end, which is possibly the remnant of the neck. There is an overall green colouration with patches of dark brown patina. The surface has no trace of iron corrosion and the object does not react to a magnet.

A flat and incomplete leather object, 175mm in length, probably of post medieval date. The object comprises a strap which terminates in an oval loop with 41mm internal width. This has stitching around the inner and outer edges. The other end tapers to a break, and has stitching holes along both sides. There are also six stitching holes in two lines of three towards the looped end forming a reinforced attachment, suggesting this item was subject to regular tension stress during its use.

A fragment from an unidentified object of uncertain date, but most likely Post-Medieval to Modern. The object consists of a horizontal section of c. 20mm long, which is flat along the bottom edge and convex along the top edge. This is lozenge-shaped in cross-section. From its centre spring two 'stems' of similar thickness, both circular in cross-section, which separate towards the top to form a V shape. One of these is c. 10mm long measured from the point at which they separate and ends in a break; the other is broken off at the separation point.
