A rectangular sheet metal plate with a series of closely spaced [8 per cm] fine grooves of length 15mm extending from one straight edge, and with faint traces of grooves and a split in the opposite side. Probably for a craft usage. Marks of this form on bones have been associated with the making of pins, on ‘pinner’s bones’, though at a larger scale. It would have been T-shaped in plan, but one arm has been folded over to the back of the object. The front face is worn, but does have some relief decoration present, consisting of a raised border and pellets. A broken copper alloy fixture or fitting probably of the post medieval period, AD 1500 - 1900. It comprises a bar of D shaped cross-section which is broken at one end. At the other end it bends backwards into a loop with the end of the bar butting against the back of the bar. The bar tapers towards the loop. It is undecorated with a green and brown patina. Dimensions are length 74.2mm; width 12.6mm; thickness 3.7mm; weight 23.53g. The function of this object is uncertain but it appears to be some type of fixture or fitting, perhaps a window hinge or the end of a tool handle or implement.
