Copper alloy modern terminal-end ferrule from an umbrella or parasol spoke. Tapering hollow conical body finishing in a sub-spherical knop. As is the case for this example vestiges of the wooden interior often survive. The wider open end has opposed circular holes that would have accommodated a transverse retaining pin. They are often mistaken for medieval and post medieval lace chapes or aiglets, hence its inclusion in this database.
