Iron tenterhook. A small wrought iron L-shaped pin with a point at either end. Tenterhooks were used in rows to pin out cloth to dry in the later course of its manufacture and processing; this would take place in an area called a tenter ground.A ferrous metal tenterhook might be tinned to prevent its staining the cloth, though only an X-ray would reveal whether plating is present. Suggested date: Medieval, 1200-1500.
Length: 34.1mm, Height: 18.7mm, Thickness: 6.4mm, Weight: 3.49gms.
