A complete copper alloy strap-end of Medieval date, c AD 1200 to 1500. The object is plain and sub-rectangular, with a curved recess at the wider end and also curves to a small knop at the terminus.  It is made from three separate pieces, 2 face plates, separated by an edging piece, which bears the knop. There is one medial rivet towards the wider end.  It has a brownish green patina. Measurements: 29.38 mm long x 15.32 mm wide x 3.98 mm thick Weight: 5.66 gm

A Post-Medieval copper alloy hooked strap fitting, probably dating to c. AD 1500-1700. The strap fitting consists of a sub-rectangular plate narrowing towards one end where there is a backward-turning hook projecting from the bottom. The top of the plate has an indent in the centre and rounded corners, creating the effect of two lobes. It tapers in width from top to bottom, before expanding again into rounded lobes to each side . An incomplete Post Medieval sword belt mount dating to the 16th century. The plate of the mount has a tri-lobed end with a narrowed waist underneath. This waist then expands forming rounded shoulders before tapering in width to a rounded break which has removed the hook. The front of the mount has raised, cast floriate decoration in a design known as 'vine-scroll'. There are the rusted remains of an iron rivet between the the three lobes. A complete copper-alloy Strap Fitting of Post-Medieval to Modern date (AD 1775- 1920). The object is an 'S'-shaped belt hook. The hook is in the form of a snake and would have hooked onto fitments at the end of the belt on a military uniform. The snake's body is pointed-oval in cross-section and is similarly moulded on both sides to emulate scales. The head tapers to a narrowed snout and has a linear moulded jaw and ovate eye. A complete copper post-Medieval copper-alloy toggle clasp (hook), probably from a sword belt (c. 1500-c. 1700). Toggle clasps like this example, originally came as two parts: the hook and the eye part. This toggle clasp is the hook part. The eye part is missing. Post Medieval copper alloy sword belt hanger. The object is roughly foliate in form, with moulded decoration forming a leaf pattern. It has a trefoil shaped terminal at one end and hook at the other. There are two circular fixing holes, one near the trefoil terminal and one above the hook, both are encrusted with iron corrosion. This would have been one of two or three fittings that together formed a hanging arrangement for a sword, date 16th-17th century.

Medieval cast copper alloy strap slider, c.1150-1400 AD. The slider consists of a single, trapezoidal loop with a pair of opposed internal triangular projections about a quarter of the way along the sides of the frame. The entire frame is rectangular in section with wide flat faces. The longest side of the frame (the upper side) has a slightly thickened section in the middle and is 21.9mm long. Cast cu-alloy pendant tht was part of a sword belt fitting (for a complete one please see SOM-EF4646) dating from the early post-medieval period, i.e. the late 16th century. The pendant was part of a set of three all of which were attached to a bigger sword belt mount (a fragment of this bigger mount - the small loop - is still attached to the top bit of this hanger). All four element were decorated with a vine leaf foliage design and there is evidence of iron rivets in this remaining pendant.
