An incomplete muzzle loading Damask muzzle loading rifle or shotgun, dating to the 19th century.
Description: The gun survives only as the barrel and part of the trigger mechanism. The barrel is polygonal and damask in form, meaning it has been formed by strips of steel and iron around a mandrel leaning to a 'Damascus Steel' style pattern. There is a a tip at the end of the barrel which may be the front sight. The bottom of the barrel also has a number of possible lugs which may have helped attach it to a wooden body or a fitting for a ramrod. The trigger end is clealry discoloured…
