An incomplete copper alloy probable pommander of probable Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 to AD 1700). The probable pommander is circular in shape and is domed. A conical knop is present at the top of the pommander. Then the sides curve down to form the top half of a sphere. Concentric lines are present as decoration, and form separate rows. Each row has several regularly spaced circular perforations (holes). Six in the top row, ten on the second and twelve on the lowest row. An openwork gold object, now crushed, which originally formed a hemispherical dome shape. The gold framework is composed of a series of interconnected semi-circle and roundel designs, some of which feature minute hatching. Four strands of thin gold wire pass through tiny holes in the larger gold decoration; in some cases these wires form a loop, their ends twisted together on the underside of the decoration.
