An incomplete copper alloy probable pommander of probable Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 to AD 1700). The probable pommander is circular in shape and is domed. A conical knop is present at the top of the pommander. Then the sides curve down to form the top half of a sphere. Concentric lines are present as decoration, and form separate rows. Each row has several regularly spaced circular perforations (holes). Six in the top row, ten on the second and twelve on the lowest row. TREASURE CASE : 2020 T746. Description: An incomplete silver-gilt pomander of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1500 – 1600. Only one hemisphere of the spherical pomander remains. The outer domed surface of the pomander is decorated with an outer border of applied, braided filigree wire and three approximately equal sized circle of filigree wire. An openwork gold object, now crushed, which originally formed a hemispherical dome shape. The gold framework is composed of a series of interconnected semi-circle and roundel designs, some of which feature minute hatching. Four strands of thin gold wire pass through tiny holes in the larger gold decoration; in some cases these wires form a loop, their ends twisted together on the underside of the decoration. A silver hollow hemispherical dome, crushed possibly of post-medieval date, c.16th cetnury?. Description: The obect takes the form of a hemispherical openwork dome. The surface is studded with small openings in the shape of circles, crosses andstars. The object is decorated with three concentric circles of various designs and settings.
