Lead pencil. Cast round-section rod with a moulded blunt point at one end, rounded at the other. Lightly patinated. The good condition should probably suggest a 19th-century schoolroom use with a writing slate though similar objects were in use from the 13th century onwards, probably ancillary to craft or building works. Suggested date: probably Post-Medieval, 1800-1900 Length: 54.2mm, Diameter: 5.2mm, Weight: 10.13gms
