An incomplete Early Medieval (Anglo-Scandinavian) copper-alloy harness link/strap distributor dating to circa AD 1000-1100.
The object was originally cross-shaped with four equal arms, however, three terminals have broken off, all of which would have emanated from a domed central boss with a concave reverse. Cast disc with the heraldic motif of a crooked arm with prominent cuff springing from a horizontal bar and brandishing a bar or charter within a broad border which bears vegetal motifs against a ground incorporating finely hatched zones. The front bears white metal plating; the back has two deep pits from fixing points. Probably for the festive decoration of horse harness. Now bent forward. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1800-1900

Lead alloy harness boss. Cast circular openwork plate with a flat rim and a concavo-convex protruding boss. The border bears vegetal swags and pellets and the boss bears a fleur de lis within a cabled basal border. Traces of white metal plating appear and rust stains suggest the object was attached to tack by iron fixing pins. Probably for the festive decoration of horse harness. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1800-1900

An incomplete copper-alloy harness fitting terret ring of Iron Age to Roman date, c.100 BC – AD 150. Uncertain Type.
The fitting comprises a sub-circular main ring with a double leaf-style skirt. Plain circular collars are present to either side of the skirt from which the main ring extends. The ring tapers in thickened away from the skirt.
The metal has a delaminated mid-green patina and is worn. The object is 56.5mm x 66.2mm overall. The ring is 6.7mm in diameter. The collars are 22.1mm x 20.5mm. The terret weighs 87g.

An incomplete copper alloy terret harness fitting of late Iron Age to Roman date (c.50 BC - AD 100).
The terret survives only as a fragment and presents a curved D-shape bar with a raised moulding that terminates in a won break. The beginnings of a horizontal strap bar extends from the bar and also terminates in a worn break. The surface is undecorated and has a slightly pitted surface and a smooth dark green patina.

An incomplete copper alloy harness fitting dating to the early medieval period (c.AD 1000-1100).
The object consists of a domed, concave centre that is decorated with an incised ring and dot in the centre of the dome. Protruding from opposite sides are two rounded knops. Extending from the other two opposite sides are two arms that have a D-shaped section and narrow slightly before curving outwards and terminating in a worn break. The reverse is flat and indecorated, it is concave at the central dome. The object has a corroded dark brown patina.

A complete copper alloy knobbed terret ring of probable later Iron Age or early Roman dating (100 BC - AD 200).
The terret is D shaped in plan. The cross section varies in shape along the length of the terret; for the majority it is oval / lentoid. The fitting is a circular hoop, with a large oval section projecting out from one side. This has four incised lines evenly spaced, and represents a simple flower design. The hoop is D shaped in cross section, and has casting spues projecting out from it. The hoop is D shaped. The fitting has a dark brown patina, and measures 20.0mm in length, 17.6mm in width, and weighs 6.65g.

An incomplete Roman cast copper-alloy harness fitting dating to the period AD 43-120. The fitting co prises part of the rectangular loop with a rectangular-sectioned frame. Integral to the surviving long edge is a pelta-shaped plate with a short curved arm missing hte tip. The opposite arm is missing. The centre of the plate extends slightly to a transverse break. The surfaces are very worn. The patina is light green.
The harness fitting measires 14.8mm long, 16.4mm wide, 2.4mm thick and weighs 1.40 grams.

The bar is curved, upright and has collar like stops with a groove on the outer and lower face. Consisting of a sub-rectangular D-shaped cross-section bar with a domed sub-oval boss asymmetrically positioned (most are central) at one end, adjacent to two arms of an incomplete connecting loop. At the other end of the bar is a sub-lozenge shaped loop with moulded projecting knops on each corner. The reverse is plain and flat and the surface displays a light green patina with patches of reddish brown corrosion.

Description: The object comprises two joined loops set perpendicular to each other at 90-degree angles. Each of the loops is oval in shape, with each loop being roughly rectangular in cross-section with flat sides and rounded edges. The larger loop is approximately 50mm in length, 31.6mm in width, with a thickness of 5.6mm. The smaller loop is approximately 20.5mm in length, 24mm in width, with a thickness of 3.4mm.
