Part of a copper-alloy cast horse harness mount probably originally of a cruciform shape. The object has four arms of different lengths remaining. There is sufficient length remaining of three arms to say that they taper towards their ends. The two remaining longer arms are adjacent, that is they are at 45 degrees to each other. The shorter of the two at it's tip end curves in towards the face of the item. The area of the inner curve is quite smooth and polished, perhaps suggesting wear. The edges are bevelled. The tip has been broken off. The longer of the remaining arms has a bulg…

A complete cast copper alloy harness distributor of probable medieval date. This kind of item may be as early as the Iron Age, or from any period through to post medieval. It consists of two oval rings, D shape in section, one slightly larger than the other, the two set at right angles to one another with a moulded boss at the junction. Both rings show possible signs of wear - straps under tension perhaps - one at its apex, the other at the lower right corner. Thus it might be assumed it is not a terret ring or strap guide but rather a link of some kind. The boss at the centre appe…
