Mesolithic core rejuvination flake from a bladelet core, possibly what is called a 'flanc de nucleus', as the flake has removed the flaking face of the core, allowing further flakes to be struck from the same platform on the remaining core. This flake has a faceted face where five narrow bladelets have been removed the ventral surface has very shallow impact ripples resulting from it being struck off the core. It is 32.25mm long, 16.86mm wide, 5.72mm thick and weighs 4.3 grams.

Record ID: DOR-D9F5F7
Object type: CORE REJUVENATION FLAKE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Dorset
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A thick secondary flint flake from a multidirectional core (a probable core rejuvenation flake). The flint is mid grey-brown with light grey mottles and has a glossy, milky patina. There is a strip of thick nodule cortex at the distal end. There is a small striking platform at the proximal end and a bulb of percussion ventrally. There are several parallel flaking scars along one side of the dorsal surface and a single large scar on the other side. The well defined striking point on the bulb of percussion indicates the use of a hard hammer.
