Rim fragment from a late 12th - 13th century chalk tempered chimney pot or Couvre-feu (‘curfew’). The fragment is pale grey-orange with traces of sooting on the inner side. The rim is plain ending is a flat edge. The chalk temper is variable in size, sub angular and makes up c.20% of the fabric. The fragment is 22.5mm thick and weighs 76 grams.
