Silver cup or chalice. Tapering beaker shaped bowl, with curved base and baluster stem, the dome foot is detached. Hallmarks on the outer rim of the bowl - unclear maker's mark, Leaopard's head crowned (London), lion passant, date letter for 1638. Hallmark on the lower surface of the foot - lion passant. There are also two sets of scratched graffiti initials on the lower surface of the foot, one AI(or J), the other I(or J)A. There is solder and some copper staining where the stem has broken off from the foot.
