A small and roughly shaped object of Greensand Chert with a flat underside worn smooth through use. The object was found in association with Roman domestic material and may be of Roman date. The object is sub-square in plan, with a raised point in the top which has been roughly shaped to allow it to be gripped by two fingers and a thumb. The grip is not good enough to enable the stone to be lifted and must have been used to polish objects lying flat on a surface.
