Copper alloy Brooch. Dolphin Brooch, cast bow with abraded ridges on its crest, surmounting enclosed tubular wings with apparently open ends. A bow of rounded section tapers towards the stub of a catch-plate. It is not clear whether the wings conceal a fine spring, or whether a hinged pin protruded from a slot in the underside of the wings. The bow is bent sharply above catch-plate and the brooch abraded overall. Suggested date: Early Roman, 40-80. Length (as found): 28.02mm, Width (wings): 32.86mm, Thickness (crest of bow): 7.1mm, Weight: 14.47gms.

Possible fantail foot from an Anglo-Saxon small long brooch. The brooch foot is flat, triangular and broken at the top. There is no decoration on the surface and no catchplate on the reverse. The absence of a catchplate makes this more likely to be Anglo-Saxon, since Roman bow and fantail brooches have catchplates on the reverse of the fantail.
