The object is a Post Medieval copper alloy Antwerp coin weight, probably from the 16th century. (A similar weight is recorded on the PAS at SF-192F14) The weight is an irregular rectangle, with slight curvature to the sides. On one side (obverse?) there is a stamped design of double eagle within a crowned shield, akin to the Austro Hungarian coat of arms with extended fleur de lis to sides and bottom of shield, all within a beaded circle. The other side (reverse?) has a central hand (right hand, palm facing). There is a letter 'S' or figure '8' above a letter 'C' to the left of the han…

This is a Scottish hammered silver penny of Alexander III (1249-1286). This example is from the first coinage with a voided long cross on the reverse. The cross has a central pellet and a star to each quadrant. The obverse has the crowned profile bust of King facing left and holding a sceptre. The reverse legend is indistinct but is most likely to indicate that the moneyer is Tomas at Aberdeen. Overall, the coin is in poor condition with a damaged lower edge when viewed on the obverse.

A miniature object in the form of a cast copper alloy axehead of probable of 1st/4th century Roman origin. The axehead may well have been hafted via the cast hole (eye) to the top of the blade. The axe is probably a votive device and whilst it is presumed to be Roman, a later medieval origin cannot be ruled out. The surface has a rough dark brown/green corrosion.

Here we have a nice example of a 13th or 14th century copper alloy key. The bow is a simple round form and adjoins the solid stem via a moulded three banded collar, with an open ended tip. The bit is asymmetrical with several clefts and bits but no channels. There is an overall pale green patina and pitting, typical of bronze disease.

This copper alloy key, it has a lozenge shaped bow with four circular holes in a square formation. The bow is then surmounted with a hollow circular device, perhaps now missing some form of attachment system. The stem is solid but with a hollow tip. The key has a simple bit with just a couple of clefts and wards, with no channels. The stem is bent and the patina is a dark green/brown.

This is a cast copper alloy key, probably medieval to post medieval in origin (13th - 15th Century). The key has an old break at the collar, which is delineated by three bands abutting the break, the central one being wider than the outer two. The bow is missing. The stem is hollow at the tip and carries a chunky bit that has channels, clefts and wards. The bit is in two parts, with a vertical 'cleft' through to the stem. The tip almost projects beyond the bit but an old break to the end, makes that conclusion a tad subjective. The artefact is covered in pale green and a black patina.

A stone mortar, for domestic use in a higher-status dwelling and probably of medieval or early post-medieval date (Nigel Jones, CPAT, August 2015). It is about 9 inches tall and originally had 4 projections (two are broken off), one of those surviving has a groove on it that looks as if it was intended for pouring. It was used by the finder's mother for feeding chickens. Probably limestone (Finder, pers. comm., August 2015).
