It is overstruck on a regular copper alloy nummus of the House of Constantine, dating to AD 332 (Reece Period 17), GLORIA EXERCITVS, two soldiers and two standards, Mint of Lyon. RIC VII, p. 138, cf. nos. 253-4.

(D N CONSTAN - TIVS P F AVG?), pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right. Rev. [FEL TEMP REPARATIO] Phoenix on rocky mound. Probably Mint of Trier. RIC VIII, p. 154, cf. no. 227. 15.9mm diam. Dating to AD 348-350. The obverse legend appears to be longer, with small letters, suggesting Constantius II rather than Constans. The long neck is a feature of coins from Trier.
