4 fragments of a puddingstone quern of probable Roman date. Puddingstone is distinctive conglomerate containing rounded red flint pebbles within a siliceous matrix, the main sources of which lie in Hertfordshire. Research carried out by Major (2004, 2-4) in Essex suggests that puddingstone rotary querns were produced here from at least 10 AD until around 160 AD and a similar chronology seems likely in Cambridgeshire. 1, Length: 34.14mm; width: 23.61mm; weight: 14.24g  2. Fragment of a Roman copper-alloy spoon of Crummy Type 3, consisting of a short length of the stem and a tiny fragment of the bowl, connected at an offset junction. The stem is rectangular, nearly square, in cross-section. When considered from the side, with the concave face of the bowl facing upwards, the stem can be said to taper gently in thickness and expand abruptly in width as it develops into the junction. On the top there is step-up of about a millimetre, and then another, followed by a low rectangular slot or notch, and then arguably two step-downs, now very rounded by wear. At…

A fragment Roman copper-alloy Colchester Derivative Harlow Spring/double lug brooch dating to circa AD 43-70. It is T-shaped in plan. The extant elements of the brooch consist of the wings and part of the upper bow. The wings are hemispherical and open at the reverse. On the reverse, in the centre, is a double lug with upper and lower circular apertures. A complete Roman faience 'melon' bead. It is cylindrical in shape with rounded edges to both faces. Parallel, deep, transverse grooves are positioned around the sides. A circular hole, c.11mm in diameter, runs through the middle, slightly off centre. It has a dark greenish-yellow patina.  See Guido (1978, 100, Types 21 and 22) and Crummy (1983, fig. 32.520-1). Worrell (2015) suggests a 1st to 2nd century date for most. Silver-gilt badge in the form of a recessed roundel with two concentric circles forming a deep frame, the edges of which are dentillated. The centre of the badge is engraved with a crowned 'I' between two Tudor roses on a hatched background. The reverse of the badge is soldered with a strip of metal which has been broken off at the point where it doubles back forming a looped pin. A lead unidentified object. This object is a cast lead ring, oval in shape measuring 13mm in length and 7mm in width externally and 8mm in length and 5mm in width internally. One edge of this ring has a circular lead disc protuding from it, the plane of which is at 90 degrees to the hoop. This disc is rounded on its front face and flat on its back face it is incomplete and c15mm in diameter.
