A silver object, originally described as a bell, now badly crushed. The object is made of two hemispheres soldered with a lip going around circumference. There is a large hole on the circumference. Soldered adjacent to the hole is a separate loop of silver wire, now broken. Similar items with rope twist design around the circumference can be found on the PAS database: SUR-289379 (2016 T217) and SOM-3CE0DB (2015 T27). Further consideration of this object in August 2017 has led to the supposition that it is probably the ball portion of a post-medieval whistle - see DOR-6E2574 (201…

A lead shield-shaped weight of probable 13th to 15th century date (see N. Biggs and P. Withers; 2000; pp. 34-45). The weight is crudely made and takes the form of a spade-shaped shield measuring 70.5mm high, 49.4mm wide, 19.6mm thick and weighing 424.1g. The design on the upper surface is in relief and depicts a heraldic device, probably of generic rather than specific nature, with four crosses, various unidentified symbols and a beaded outer border. The reverse is plain and has stick marks around the edges, indicating that it was removed from the mould before it had cooled.

A lead shield-shaped weight of medieval date. Shield-shaped weights are discussed by Biggs and Withers (2000, p. 34-45), who suggest that they probably date from the late 12th century onwards. In plan, the weight takes the form of an inverted triangle and bears, on its upper surface, a design of devolved heraldic nature. This design comprises several elements, including three pellets moulded pellets, one close to each corner. Just below each of the two top pellets, protruding inwards from the sides, are two semi-circular relief mouldings. Dividing the two top pellets is a downward-p…

A copper-alloy trade weight of post-medieval date. Even though the crowned mark depicting the monarch is not clear, Bailey suggests that the position of the marks (see below) identify this as a weight of George III or George IV (pre 1826) (Bailey, 2000, p. 42). The weight is disc-shaped, measuring 19.3mm in diameter and 3.8mm thick. The upper surface has a recessed circular area bordered by a rim. Stamped on this recessed area are a sword (at twelve o'clock), a ewer (at six o'clock) and an illegible crowned letter (at three o'clock). The sword is the mark of St. Paul and indicates …
