A lead alloy probable brooch fragment which is probably from the mid Early Medieval period. The fragment is a sub rectangular flat plate with one end rounded, and the other end broken with the majority of the brooch missing. The fragment is divided into two panels by a transverse raised bar. There seems to be a plain border round each panel, and interlace patterns within. Fragment of a cast lead disc brooch decorated with two circumferential raised rings around its outer edge. The inner ring is linked to the centre by two surviving spoke-like ribs, the intersections being marked by pellets. There may have been another element in the design which reached the outer ring but this is damaged and incomplete. On the back of the brooch are the flattened remains of the spring fitting consisting of two rounded lugs through which are holes for the spring chord.

A lead alloy brooch of Weetch's type 4.A, which dates to the late Anglo-Saxon period (10th century). The brooch is a flat circular disc with a diameter of 39.1mm, and is a maximum of 11mm thick including the pin fittings. There is an area missing from one edge. Late Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) lead alloy disc brooch, 38mm long, 28mm wide and 11mm thick. The brooch is in fair condition, with a portion missing and weighs 20.04g. The brooch is circular and is decorated with five bands of concentric dotted lines forming a border around a central field of small raised dots, apparently randomly placed. The reverse contains a rectangular shaped, curved catchplate and a double semi-circular lug. The brooch is of a form developed from late Saxon Nummular brooches, which sometimes had coins as a central motif.

Oval plate with circular peripheral lugs (some missing), central, oval hollow-backed boss (false hog-back gem) surrounded by pellets. The plate is pierced at regular intervals around the central boss. No evidence of attachment rivets or pin on back. Rosie Weetch has identified this brooch as an example of her Type 25.B, which has been found on several sites in London as well as in Saltfleetby St Peter, Lincs (LIN-F70B24) and Dorset (DOR-B64CD1). The type appears to date to the late 10th or 11th century.

Disc with hollow back under raised central irregular 6-pointed star, and integral fittings for iron pin (lost); edge is beaded; areas between each prong have a central line from which two other lines branch on either side, each with a small round pellet terminal; the star points are similarly decorated; at the centre is a collet, probably for a glass stone (lost).

Fragment of lead-alloy nummular brooch. Just a tiny scrap of the edge survives, with relief decoration consisting of a border of ladder pattern, an inner border of pellets, and an inner field of geometrically intersecting straight lines. On the reverse is a transverse pin lug. These brooches are so called because they are ultimately derived from coins; the borders are imitating the filigree settings that were added to coins to make the originals. The fragment measures 22 x 13 mm; the brooch would originally have been about 40 mm in diameter.

Very fine lead alloy disc brooch. The brooch face is circular and raised, circa 25mm in diameter, and flares rearwards to circa 32mm in diameter. The brooch is hollow when viewed from the reverse. Cast lead alloy circular brooch of Weetch type 24, dating to the late early-medieval period. The frame consists of eight false, faceted conical gems in beaded collets, with small, outer false-gem pellets between each of the former. In the centre is an openwork, eight pointed star-like design with a central pellet. The back has a casting seam, but is missing its pin. Compare Weetch (2013) nos. 809 (from Bradenham, Norfolk, HER 30636) and 810-812 (from London). Two examples were found in the Cheapside hoard, which was coin-dated to c. 1000 AD.

An incomplete cast lead medieval brooch or badge. The circular badge has a beaded border around the edge, and was originally slightly convex, but now is almost completely flat. Inside the beaded edge the badge rises slightly up to a circular centre with openwork decoration. The decoration is similar to a wheel design, made up of two concentric circular bands of metal. Fragment of a circular lead brooch, very worn. triangular geometic pattern around the outer edge with a circular wave pattern inside the inner circle of the brooch. dimensions: 29.1mm, width 17.2mm thickness 2mm, weight 4.17g. This brooch was allocated by Rosie Weetch to Type 32, unknown/other plate brooch, but from the drawing it seems as if it must be a Type 13, the stepped type. These date to the 11th century.

Anglo-Scandinavian lead alloy plate brooch, rectangular with remains of an iron pin in a single transverse pin lug and catchplate. Rather indistinct moulded decoration within a frame appears as a saltire with a central boss set on a lozenge and smaller bosses nearer the corners. Details on a much better preserved lead alloy brooch excavated at Thetford suggest that the decoration is probably zoomorphic and in the Borre style (Youngs, S. in Wallis 2004, 38-40, fig. 35 SF437). 30.5 x 24.5mm. Thickness of plate 1.5 - 2mm. 10th century.
