An early Roman brooch of Colchester type. The brooch has plain side wings, catchplate and spine but there is a rounded knop and a collar on the foot. The corrosion suggest an iron repair to the spring, unless the spring was iron originally.

An incomplete Roman Colchester derivative brooch, from the 1st century AD. The brooch has been cast in copper alloy. Most of the brooch survives, but part of the spring and the the whole of the pin are missing. The undecorated wings survive intact. Two small rings extend backwards from the reverse of the wings, these would have once held the spring. The upper ring is empty as the external chord is missing. Copper alloy Roman umbonate brooch. A circular brooch with circular knops on the outer edge. There would have been 8, now only 3 are left. The 6 smaller knops are decorated with an inner circle. At the top and bottom were two larger knops, only one of which remains. This has a central circular perforation. The pin is on a hinge and remains but the catchplate is missing. Copper alloy brooch, Colchester derivative type with Polden Hill variant spring attachment. Missing foot with catchplate, spring, pin. The spring was held by a rear hook and by enclosed wing ends, 6mm wide - these contain an iron-like corrosion, but it does not react to a magnet. The wings have a single angled groove and five grooves at the terminals, with slight notching of some of the intervening narrow ribs. The bow has a slightly convex back and rounded front, and a stront crest at the top in profile. It tapers to a smal;l foot knob. Fragment of Roman copper alloy bow brooch, consisting of the lower bow and incomplete catchplate only. The brooch is very worn and most of the original patina is missing. The fragment measures 44.9mm in length and is very straight in profile. It is 5.4mm wide at the break and 5.4mm wide at the foot. The breaks are old. The bow is roughly triangular in section, being flat to the reverse. To the front is a mid-rib, from which either side falls away. A copper alloy Roman bow brooch which is probably Dolphin type. The bow survives, but the pin, mechanism, and most of the catchplate are missing. The bow has a humped head and tapers to a point at the foot. It is decorated with two narrow grooves that run the length of the bow and flare at the head. A cast copper alloy Roman Colchester two-piece brooch. The object consists of the head of the brooch and most of the bow. The spring mechanism, the pin and the lower part of the bow are all missing. The double head loop remains in situ, with one loop intact and one broken. The wings are decorated with incised vertical lines. The object is slightly worn, with a mid greyish-green patina. Brooches of this type date to the 1st century AD. Parallels for this brooch can be found in Hattat 2000, fig.156.

Cast copper alloy disc brooch, incomplete, probably middle to late Anglo-Saxon, 8th to 11th century. Flat, circular and apparently undecorated, it has a transversely set cylindrical lug (length 11.46mm, width 4.2mm) to hold the pin; this is set parallel to the edge of the brooch. At the opposite end is a semi-circular hooked catchplate set perpendicular to the edge of the brooch. The pin is missing.
